MAIL CLERK (MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR)

The primary purpose of this position is to receive, record, and process incoming and outgoing mail to include registered, insured and certified mail for Eielson AFB and assists in the administration of the Records Management, Privacy Act, and Publications and Forms programs for Eielson AFB.
Responsibilities Processes incoming and outgoing mail.
Maintains security accountability.
Receives, delivers, and collects incoming and outgoing materials and documents.
Provides administrative support.
Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
GENERAL
Experience:
Applicants must have at least six (6) months of general experience.
Examples of general experience includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates your ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
OR EDUCATION:
Successfully completed one year of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university.

OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1.
Knowledge of postal regulations for processing all types of mail.
2.
Knowledge of security regulations and administrative procedures in handling classified or special category mail.
3.
General knowledge of the clerical procedures in performing the routine administrative work of the organization.
Skill in applying basic data gathering methods to collect various types of factual information.
4.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
Ability to learn the organizational structure for mail distribution.
5.
Ability to learn routes, office locations, points of collection and delivery, and names or codes of key employees or offices.
6.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID
Experience:
Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
